I replaced the first failure with a pertronix 3 ohm flamethrower coil the second failure on a boat i reinstalled the coil and resistor i had removed to install the bosch blue coil.

Currently i have a blue coil and an 009 with pertronix under the cap. You want a non resistor coil to take full advantage of the msd ignition box. The first number is the part number for this coil.

The bosch blue coil has an internal resistor so it can be run with points. Price is right but if its no better. Stock bosch blue coils have the 3 ohm ballast resistor inside the coil.
